Local governments have to do it all – public safety, recreation, code enforcement, redevelopment and so much more.  Every service locals provide culminates into a community’s quality of life.  Participants will go on a field trip to The Landing, a Fort Wayne project that combines housing, local retail space, and office space for entrepreneurs.  Guides will explain how the City, its downtown development association, the regional chamber of commerce, and the regional development authority, worked together to make this transformational placemaking project happen.  Attendees will learn how to use public-private partnerships and inter-governmental alliances to foster meaningful change in their communities.  By understanding how the project approached financing, defining of roles, community support, and more, and participants will be able to replicate these strategies, to scale, in their city or town.
