Aim Youth Councils Network
Across the state, Hoosier students play an integral role in preparing our cities and towns for the future through local youth advisory councils. Aim has launched a new network to amplify and support that vital mission. The Aim Youth Councils Network is committed to serving emerging leaders. Through the program, we endeavor to increase the number of municipal leaders who run local councils and offer networking opportunities and leadership development for youth.

Here at Aim, we’re gearing up for Year 2! The first step in successful programming for the 2018-19 school year is choosing a Steering Committee of student leaders to guide our youth civic engagement efforts! The students will play a big role in planning our 2019 Legislative Day, 2019 Youth Leadership Summit – and growing the programming we offer.
For the 2018-19 school year positions available include:
- Regional Director – North
- Regional Director – Central
- Regional Director – South
- Events Coordinator
The deadline for a student to apply for a position is March 31. Applicants should be in Grades 9-12 for the 2018-19 school year and an active member of the Youth Council run by their mayor or town leader.
Once all applications are received, Aim will compile the information and send the material out to Youth Councils in April. Youth Councils will review the applications and forward their finalist for each position to an independent review panel who will choose the Steering Committee. The goal is to announce the Steering Committee in early May.
Requirements of Steering Committee members include two (2) in-person meetings at the Aim office in Indianapolis, with one (1) meeting over the summer and one (1) in November. Meetings will be scheduled on weekends at a time that works for a majority of Steering Committee members.
