Mount Comfort Corridor honored with Local Government Collaboration Award for regional strategy

by Aim Admin | Aug 28, 2019 | Media, Members, Press Release

FRENCH LICK – Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim) named the Mount Comfort Corridor, comprised of the towns of Cumberland, McCordsville and New Palestine, as the winner of the 2019 Aim Local Government Collaboration Award for its regional community development strategy. The Mount Comfort Corridor received the award on August 28 during the Aim Annual Awards Luncheon, presented by Baker Tilly, at the 2019 Aim Ideas Summit in French Lick.

Building off the collaboration of the towns’ Regional Stellar Plan, the communities participated in a process to develop an economic development strategy and growth plan for the Mount Comfort Corridor. Town leaders and other community stakeholders participated in an Urban Land Institute’s Advisory Services Panel. The result: The Corridor now has a series of recommendations for economic development, infrastructure, placemaking and design, land use and planning, among other priorities. The towns are now partnering to make the recommendations a reality.

“Cities and towns working together to accomplish shared goals is an essential component of a strong state,” Aim CEO Matt Greller said. “The Mount Comfort Corridor exemplifies the positive and transformational impact of regional collaboration, as the towns chart a course for the development of this dynamic area.”

In its 43rd year, the Aim Annual Awards program, presented by Baker Tilly, recognizes communities and individuals in municipal government for excellence and outstanding achievement. A nine-member panel of qualified judges selected this year’s winners from a competitive field of nominees from around the state.
