Sullivan Mayor Clint Lamb takes Home Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service Award

by Aim Admin | Aug 31, 2023 | Awards, Legislators, Media, Members, Press Release

French Lick – Sullivan Mayor Clint Lamb received the 2023 Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service Award from Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim). Lamb was presented the award on August 23 during the Presidents’ Reception at the 2023 Aim Ideas Summit.

Mayor Lamb was praised during the reception for his dedication to Aim, having served in many leadership roles, including the association’s 2022 president. In addition to his service to Aim, Mayor Lamb was cited as a true leader with passion for Sullivan and compassion for those who call the city home. His focus on housing, recreational amenities, beautification and placemaking, infrastructure, municipal services, and community pride, have been top priorities for Mayor Lamb during his tenure.

When presented with his award, Greenwood Mayor and Aim President Mark Myers noted Mayor Lamb’s remarkable leadership during the spring 2023 tornado that ripped through the south side of Sullivan. He praised the mayor’s ability to assume the roles of chief comforter, recovery officer, problem solver, visionary, and uncompromising advocate for those affected.

“Municipal leaders celebrate the highs and suffer the lows right along with their citizens. This has never been truer or more noticeable than watching Mayor Lamb lead his city with compassion and confidence during the aftermath of the March 31st tornado. His many years at the helm, leading Sullivan’s growth and development, prepared him for this moment,” said Aim CEO Matt Greller.

It was an unprecedented year for the DSA. Judges reached a tie decision and elected to honor both Mayor Lamb and Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke. Both mayors took office in 2012 and will leave office later this year, having not sought reelection for a fourth term.

Former Evansville Mayor Russ Lloyd is the namesake for the Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service Award. The award is given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to local government. Nominees for this prestigious award must display accomplishments beyond their community, including contribution to Aim and public service, leadership and personal initiative.

In its 47th year, the Aim Annual Awards program, presented by Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors LLC, recognizes communities and individuals in municipal government for excellence and outstanding achievement. A seven-member panel of qualified judges selected this year’s winners from a competitive field of nominees from around the state.
