INDIANAPOLIS – Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim) announced Marion has earned an Aim Community Placemaking Award for its Community Pitch Night. The city was honored with this award earlier this month at the virtual 2020 Aim Ideas Summit during the Annual Awards Program – presented by Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors, LLC. Marion won in the 20,000 – 50,000 population category.
Community Pitch Night was a fun, engaging way to spur development in downtown Marion, and offer local entrepreneurs an opportunity to win free rental space and connect with potential investors. The result has been a new restaurant and gallery downtown, as well as increased enthusiasm from the community at large. This brief video highlights their amazing work.
“Each year we highlight amazing placemaking projects. Each one is unique and I’m always impressed by the creativity at the local level. Marion Pitch Night is the epitome of originality and really demonstrates the innovative thinking it takes to be a placemaking leader,” said Aim CEO Matt Greller.
