EVANSVILLE – Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim) announced today the city of Rising Sun has been named a 2017 Placemaking Award winner. The City will receive its award during the Aim Annual Awards Luncheon presented by Umbaugh, Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the 2017 Aim Ideas Summit in Evansville.

Rising Sun was honored for their Riverfront Revitalization Project.  The multi-year project focused on protecting the riverbank, providing access to the river and diversifying the economic base through tourism.

“Maximizing the use of existing assets and building upon strengths is what good placemaking is all about.  The City of Rising Sun is a true leader in this movement and I’m excited for them to receive the acknowledgement they deserve,” said Aim CEO Matt Greller.

In its 41st year, the Aim Annual Awards program, presented by Umbaugh, recognizes communities and individuals in municipal government for excellence and outstanding achievement.  A nine-member panel of qualified judges selected this year’s winners from a competitive field of nominees from around the state.
