Cities, towns, and neighborhoods all face challenges that, while rooted in the built environment, are interconnected with the social and cultural aspects of each community. Whether it is rethinking a dangerous intersection, better engaging with a disenfranchised neighborhood, or redeveloping a big box site, such opportunities can benefit from creative and comprehensive, place-based planning and design. Ball State University’s new Civic Design Workshop Series provides an opportunity for multiple mayors, town managers, department directors, and community leaders to come together in a workshop format to consider bold solutions in an inspired and confidential environment with assistance from College of Architecture and Planning faculty, professional experts, and each other.
