About

The Redevelopment Association of Indiana (RAI) was established in 1995 by municipal employees whose job focus in their respective communities was on economic development, job creation, industry, redevelopment of blighted areas, and creating quality places to live. The founders of the association saw a benefit in creating a forum to share ideas and best practices and worked with the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (now Aim) to start RAI.

Who are the members of RAI?

Members are city, town and county employees who work in the field of development in addition to local government elected officials, commission members, and company associates who assist local governments with their community development projects in the areas of architectural, design, engineering, financial consulting, financing, etc.

Why Join?

  • RAI provides its members with access to a resource library that is continually being expanded. From sample documents to feature articles, RAI makes helpful tools available to you.
  • Networking and being able to learn from other individuals in the field is an important benefit of being an RAI member. RAI meets four times a year. Each summer, RAI holds its annual “Site Tour” meeting in one of its member communities where members spend a full day touring projects and meeting the experts who made worked on the developments.
  • Membership dues are inexpensive. The goal of RAI is to provide education and resources, not to make money. Dues are $25 for first time members and $125 for renewals. One membership purchased can cover anyone in that city, town, county or organization that would like to belong. For example, your entire redevelopment commission, development staff, elected officials can be a part of RAI under one membership.
