We host workshops throughout the year as part of our mission to educate and inform our members. Aim workshops are designed to give you insights into the selected topic and provide you the opportunity to have discussions with your municipal peers.
Hoosier Municipalities and the Americans with Disabilities Act
Wednesday, January 23 | 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST
Zionsville Town Hall | Zionsville, IN
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law in 1990 to prohibit discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas. Although it has been almost thirty years, there are many aspects of the law and amendments that are still confusing or unknown to many. This Aim workshop will discuss the issues you need to know as a municipal official. We will start with an inward look into your municipal human resources before moving on to community issues. ADA compliance for your citizens will be discussed in depth and will include topics such as transportation, housing, recreation, and communication tools. We will end the day with a candid discussion among attendees.
